Derrick Adams is a multidisciplinary New York-based artist working in performance, video, sound and 2D and 3D realms. His practice focuses on the fragmentation and manipulation of structure and surface, exploring self-image and forward projection.

This elementary art lesson is inspired by Adams’s solo exhibition, “Deconstruction Worker” which illustrate the construction of a figure using faux building materials (wood grain, tile, granite, etc.)

The 8-page lesson plan includes: information about the artist, objectives, National Core Arts Standard, materials list, procedure, assessment, and extension, as well as resource links, and artist and student examples for inspiration.
