I often take for granted that I live so close to one of the nation's biggest cities, Chicago, Illinois. Along with great food, sporting events and entertainment, Chicago offers one of the greatest art museums on the planet. Many of my favorite artists (Chagall, Cezanne, Rauschenberg, Hockney, Marc and more) have artwork on display at the Art Institute of Chicago.
I recently visited the museum and spent much of the day viewing work in the Modern Wing. I'm currently in a modern art history course at Illinois State University. Many of the paintings I saw were fresh in my mind from class. Having studied the context of many of these works added to my overall experience at the Art Institute. I took several photographs to share with my future students. I want them to be aware of my passion for art and seeing art in person in various museums and galleries. I also hope to encourage them to learn more about the artists and artworks they enjoy. Below are a few images from my visit:
